JPAQ / TLA is a tool for exploring Personality Adaptations, not a stand-alone clinical diagnosis or a substitute for psychotherapy.
JPAQ (Joines Personality Adaptations Questionnaire) is Vann Joines’s Personality Adaptations questionnaire, based on the model of six Personality Adaptations. TLA is the Russian-language modification of the JPAQ developed by V. Petrovsky and Yu. Poltavskaya. These are not different theories, nor simply two translations of the same file: the Russian-language version is a modified instrument built on the same theoretical foundation.
At Psychometric.ru you can order the assessment in Russian, followed by an individual review of your results. The original English-language JPAQ is offered separately.
Vann Joines, Ph.D., is an American clinical psychologist, President and Director of the Southeast Institute for Group and Family Therapy, and an international trainer and supervisor of psychotherapy. He is the author of the original JPAQ questionnaire and its manual for administration and interpretation (2002), and co-author of TA Today: A New Introduction to Transactional Analysis and Personality Adaptations: A New Guide to Human Understanding in Psychotherapy and Counseling. He received the Eric Berne Memorial Award (1994). This information explains the origins of the method; we will cover the author’s full professional background in a separate article.
The Russian-language modification JPAQ / TLA was developed by V. Petrovsky and Yu. Poltavskaya. The description of the Russian-language project notes its adaptation, modification, validation, and standardization.
The questionnaire produces a profile showing how strongly each of the six Personality Adaptations is expressed. It does not divide people into six mutually exclusive types: the profile reflects an individual combination of scores.
The names may sound unusual. They are terms of a theoretical model, not judgments of a person’s worth, diagnoses, or labels. During the consultation, the specialist helps you understand what the adaptations mean for your particular profile and life context.
After the questionnaire, you receive a PDF report with your individual Personality Adaptations profile and descriptions of the adaptations. The report shows the unadjusted total (Raw Score)Raw ScoreA result based on your answers to the test questions. It shows the number of points scored on a particular Personality Adaptation scale. and the norm-referenced score (Standardized Score)Standardized ScoreA test result calculated using data from a normative sample. It shows how strongly a particular Personality Adaptation is expressed compared with other people. for each of the six scales. During the consultation, the expert helps you make sense of the combination of scores and explore how they may relate to your habitual adaptive behavioral strategies.
The price of the complete service is 65 000 ֏. This is the price of testing together with the consultation, not the price of the questionnaire alone.

The chart reflects the questionnaire results, but on its own it does not explain a person’s story. During the consultation, you and the specialist will discuss which features of the profile match your experience, which interpretations need clarification, and how your habitual adaptive behavioral strategies show up in specific situations.
Consultations are conducted by specialists holding Certified PFT® Practitioner status — certified practitioners of Personality Focused Treatment (PFT)®. A diagnostic consultation on the questionnaire results is not a promise of psychotherapeutic treatment.
